We built the directory we always wished existed — a trusted, beautiful guide to the world's best specialty plant shops.
What is The Leaf List?
The Leaf List is the most trusted directory of rare, exotic, and specialty plant shops across the United States. We exist because finding quality plant shops — the kind run by people who actually love plants — is genuinely hard. Google returns big-box garden centers. Reddit threads go stale. Instagram is useful, but noisy.
We fix that. Every shop in our directory has been reviewed for quality, specialty, and authenticity. We list shops that a plant-obsessed friend would actually recommend — not just anything with "nursery" in the name.
Our directory currently covers 3,000+ verified shops across 34 states, with more being added every week.
How We Curate
Every listing on The Leaf List is manually reviewed before it goes live. We don't scrape Google Maps and publish everything. We look for shops that meet our quality standards:
- Specialty focus on rare, exotic, or niche plant categories
- Active business with verifiable online presence
- Google review rating of 4.0 or above
- Not a big-box or general garden center
- Staff with genuine plant knowledge and passion
- Regular inventory updates and customer communication
We use a combination of community submissions, editorial research, and our growing network of plant enthusiasts to discover and verify new shops. Ratings shown are pulled from Google and refreshed regularly.
The Tier System
Not all listings are equal — and we're transparent about that. Our three-tier system helps you quickly understand the level of curation behind each listing.
Our highest tier. Featured shops have been personally vetted by our curatorial team. They demonstrate exceptional specialty focus, outstanding reviews, active community presence, and represent the best-in-class for plant enthusiasts.

Listed shops are community-submitted specialty plant retailers that are included in our directory. They have not yet been through our full verification process but are legitimate businesses.
